Government Declares War On Land Barons, Warns Traditional Leaders Over Illegal Land Sales

The Government has launched a nationwide crackdown on illegal land dealings.

Authorities have warned that anyone involved in unauthorised land allocations and sales will face arrest and prosecution as part of efforts to restore order to the country’s land administration system.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Minister of Local Government and Public Works Daniel Garwe said authorities were stepping up efforts to dismantle criminal networks accused of profiting from unlawful land transactions.

He said the Government had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards land barons, rogue land dealers and any other individuals abusing the country’s land allocation system for personal gain.
